Opportunities
From Genome@Yale
Our laboratory combines traditional molecular and biochemical methods with bioinformatics and high-throughput technologies to analyze the mechanisms of genome expression. Being at this interface allows us to exploit the advantages of each paradigm.
Postdoctoral Fellows
Graduate students finishing their doctorate research and postdoctoral fellows are invited to apply for a position in functional genomics in our laboratory. Applicants with a secured fellowship, strong background in genomics, biochemistry, or computational biology are considered. Please send a cover letter describing potential research projects that might be pursued in our lab, CV, letters of recommendation, and reprints of recent papers to Tae. Information and resources for postdoctoral fellows and associates at Yale can be obtained at the Yale University Postdoctoral Office.
Graduate Students
Eligible students are those admitted to the Combined Program in the Biological and Biomedical Sciences (BBS) at Yale. Projects for students to explore during their rotation and pursue for their Ph.D. research are:
- genome-wide analysis of insulator function
- mechanisms of multiple promoter utilization and regulation of alternative splicing and polyadenylation
- genome-wide analysis of transcription initiation and the mechanisms of genome expression
- transcriptional regulation of large gene clusters in the human genome
Undergraduate Students
Computational and experimental projects available for each semester and summer are:
- development of a general method for compiling and analyzing sequence variation, genome-wide location and expression data
- development of genome-wide strategies to investigate repetitive sequences in gene expression
